I am the research and communications coordinator for Our Local History, a non-profit program dedicated to sharing local civil rights history with students, educators and community members across the Rochester area and beyond.
From 2012 until 2024 I covered education and other topics as a reporter for the Democrat and Chronicle. I wrote extensively about the various predicaments of the Rochester City School District as well as its relationship with surrounding school districts, winning various journalism awards along the way. I still do freelance journalism for local and national outlets.
I grew up in the suburb of Penfield and attended the University of Chicago and the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Before arriving at the Democrat and Chronicle I worked for The Citizen in Auburn, New York. I live with my wife and children in the city of Rochester.
